Hiring a handyman near you — the 10-point checklist for 2026

Handyman tasks are where task marketplaces earn their keep. The wrong hire wastes a Saturday and leaves you with a wobbly shelf. The right one is in and out in 45 minutes with the fan working. This checklist gets you the right one, every time.

Before you post

  • 1. Take a photo of the exact problem area — 80% of bad quotes come from unclear scope.
  • 2. Measure. Length in cm, wattage on the label, model number on the device.
  • 3. Note access: floor, lift, parking, security procedure.
  • 4. Decide what you'll supply vs. what the handyman brings (screws, tape, replacement parts).

In your TBuddy post

  • 5. Title includes the specific job + neighbourhood — "Fix leaking kitchen tap, Whitefield."
  • 6. Description covers scope, access, materials and your price range in five lines.
  • 7. Attach two photos: one wide, one close-up of the problem area.

Before you accept a quote

  • 8. Verified badge, 4.8+ rating, at least 20 completed handyman-style tasks.
  • 9. Ask one specific troubleshooting question — a real pro answers with confidence, a fake dodges.
  • 10. Confirm total price in writing in-app: labour + parts + trip charge. If they push to "decide after," pick someone else.

Add these ten things and your average handyman task ends in a rating five-star instead of a review-worthy story.
