Privacy Policy

TBuddy is operated by the TBuddy team and is reachable at help@tbuddy.app. This policy explains exactly what we collect on the app, why, who can see it, and how to remove it.

What we collect from you directly: email address, display name, handle, date of birth (for the 18+ check), city, optional bio, profile photo, optional social links (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, GitHub, website), the tasks, posts, stories, portfolio entries and product listings you create, the messages you send in-app, your reviews, and verification documents if you choose to upload them (ID image, selfie).

What we collect automatically: approximate location at city level (so we can show nearby buddies), device tokens for push notifications if you grant them, and basic operational logs (IP address, timestamps, error reports) used to keep the service running and to block abuse.

Sign-in options: you may create an account with email + password, or sign in with Google. When you use Google sign-in, Google shares your name, email and profile picture with us so we can create your TBuddy profile. We never receive your Google password. SMS / phone-OTP verification is not collected — TBuddy currently relies on email + optional ID/selfie verification only.

Precise GPS: We only ever share precise GPS between the two parties of an accepted task, and only while the task is marked active. The live share ends automatically when either party marks the task complete. No advertiser, no third party, and no other TBuddy user can see your precise location.

Why we use this data: to operate the app, match you with buddies, deliver the messages and notifications you ask for, calculate trust and reputation scores, send the transactional emails you have a right to receive (welcome, password change, task assigned, review published), prevent fraud, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal data and we do not run third-party advertising on TBuddy.

Who can see what: profile fields you mark public — including any social links, portfolio posts and product listings you add — are visible to other signed-in users, and product listings are additionally shown to nearby buyers in your city; chat messages are visible only to the participants of that chat; verification documents are visible only to our trust team. Database access is restricted by row-level security so even our app code cannot read another user's private data without an explicit policy allowing it.

Subprocessors we rely on: managed cloud database and storage hosting, and our transactional email infrastructure (sent from help@tbuddy.app). We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications you opt into. None of these subprocessors receive your data for their own marketing.

How long we keep it: account data is kept while your account is active. Posts marked as 24-hour stories are removed automatically after 24 hours. Chat messages are kept for as long as both participants keep their accounts. Sold-out or closed product listings remain on your profile until you delete them. Verification images (ID, selfie) are deleted within 30 days of approval — only the verified flag remains on your profile. Operational logs are rotated within 90 days.

Your rights: you can export your data, correct any field, withdraw push or marketing consent, unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in every email footer, and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my account. Account deletion is immediate — your profile, tasks, posts, stories, portfolio entries, product listings, messages, follows, reviews and verification records are erased from our active systems on the spot, with encrypted backups rotating out within 30 days. Limited records we are legally required to retain (e.g. tax / payment receipts) are kept in a restricted finance log only.

Children: TBuddy is restricted to adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors and will delete any such account on discovery.

Changes to this policy: we will email every user at least 14 days before any material change takes effect.
